Low Impact Development

Incorporating LID principles into our design process for urban development projects, road reconstruction and municipal infrastructure improvements.

In recent years the focus of stormwater management (SWM) planning has shifted from end-of-pipe controls to a treatment train approach with emphasis on source controls. This approach has been demonstrated to replicate more natural hydrologic behaviour and is commonly called low impact development (LID).

COLE has successfully implemented LID SWM controls for a wide variety of projects including rainwater harvesting, permeable pavers, green roofs, infiltration measures and bio-retention features. We incorporate LID principles into our design process for urban development projects, road reconstruction and municipal infrastructure improvements
