COLE completed detailed design and contract administration services for a total of seven erosion sites within various watercourses in the City of Markham. The erosion sites were within several different watersheds, including the East Don River, Rouge River, Pomona Mills Creek and German Mills Creek. Proposed works included steep bank stabilization, implementation of a pedestrian bridge, armourstone retaining walls and bioengineered restoration with the use of live fascines, and live stake plantings. Co-ordination to obtain access permission for several different private property owners was required. Extensive preconsultation was undertaken with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, in order to facilitate approval of the project.
