Project Highlights

COLE was retained by WASA to review the solid stream generated from the Beetham WWTP to produce an end product that has beneficial use for the agricultural application, land application and other purposes. The sludge generated was to be capable of meeting Class B requirements as defined by the US EPA in Rule 503, CFR40.

COLE’s design for a new sludge management system had to consider poor subsurface conditions, including using piles to support the building due to shallow footings likely to undergo substantial differential settlement due to the large footprint of the building and the possibility of varying fill thickness over this area, and new policy statements. COLE developed and evaluated options, and produced a sludge management design which met the requirements of WASA and achieved project objectives.
